E-mail message store (IMAP/SMTP/LDAP)
All messages are stored using a standard E-mail message store. Messages are deposited via SMTP and retrieved via IMAP. Subscriber profile information is retrieved from an LDAP directory.
NowMessage is available with these services already integrated. Integration with third party E-mail providers is available via the Common Voices Professional Services group.
VoiceXML/Java/JSP implementation
NowMessage is implemented entirely in Java/JSP, and outputs VoiceXML as the presentation language for the call flow to the caller. NowMessage is 100% VoiceXML compliant and uses no proprietary extensions. NowMessage uses some VoiceXML 2.0 features (for speech grammars in particular).
Furthermore, since NowMessage is implemented using Web technologies, integration with other Web services is straightforward.
Variety of VoiceXML browser implementations
NowMessage has been tested with VoiceXML gateway implementations from VoiceGenie, BeVocal, Nuance, Pactolus and with our OpenLink browser.
Additional VoiceXML compliant gateways can be qualified as required.
Common Hardware and Network platforms
Since NowMessage is Java/JSP based, it runs on a wide variety of Hardware Platforms. NowMessage will work with hardware systems from all major suppliers, including Sun, HP/Compaq and Intel.
As a web application that outputs VoiceXML, NowMessage is able to leverage the real-world stress testing and performance testing (and tuning) that the Web and Application Servers have endured.
Single Message Store for Web & Voice access
The IMAP/SMTP message store is the only message store for the subscriber’s messages. As such, changes made via the Web are instantly reflected in the mailbox—and are immediately available via the phone interface as well.
Inherently N+1 redundant/scalable
NowMessage is designed as a Web application and is able to leverage the considerable engineering design and implementation for redundant and scalable Web services. The major software modules that are embodied in the NowMessage application are inherently N+1 scalable and therefore present the ultimate flexibility to the carrier with regards to provisioning additional features, services and subscribers.
There are no single points of failure in any recommended installation of the NowMessage application and services.
No system boundaries
Through the use of an LDAP directory, as well as accepted Internet and Web protocols (IMAP/SMTP/HTTP), NowMessage presents a “single system” image to the subscriber. There are no system boundaries that restrict which features a subscriber may use or how the features function. All NowMessage subscribers have the same features available to them, regardless of which VoiceXML gateway completes the call, anywhere in the network.
